Sainte-Marie-du-Mont is a commune in the Manche department and in the region of Lower Normandy in north-western France. The commune has 740 inhabitants.〔Municipal population, 2012.〕 ==Geography== Saint-Marie-du-Mont is located in the southeast of the Cotentin Peninsula, just north of the town of Carentan, and west of the , the outlet of the Douve and the Vire. The commune has a vast area in relation to neighbouring communes, it is bordered to the east by the English Channel, on the north by Audouville-la-Hubert, northwest by Turqueville, west by Bouteville, by Hiesville to the southwest and to the south by Brucheville and Brévands. To the northeast of the commune is the , protecting part of the marshes of Cotentin and Bessin. The town is part of the .
